Island Prosthetics uses a technique called Automated Fabrication of Mobility Aids (AFMA) to manufacture prostheses. Digital information from the amputee's residual limb is downloaded to a computer where the socket is designed using Seattle ShapeMaker (tm) software.
A remote CNC carving machine is used to carve a positive model over which
a socket can be
fabricated.
